Effects of fertigation on soil habitats in walnut(Juglans regia)

  • In order to determine the best fertigation method for walnut seedling growth and management, and provide theoretical reference and guidance basis for sustaining soil environment and promoting high quality and high yield of walnut, we conducted a pot experiment to understand the effects of different fertigation on soil environment of walnut seedlings.By using one-year walnut seedlings in the experiment, we designed two irrigations (flood irrigation and drip irrigation) and three fertilizations (no fertilization, full fertilization and 60% fertilization). The results showed that drip fertigation effectively decreased soil pH and increased soil electrical conductivity.Drip irrigation + 60% fertilization exhibited the most significant effect, which significantly improved the soil water content by 16.7% compared with that of flood irrigation+60% fertilization.Drip irrigation+ fertilization treatments increased the soil available nutrient contents.Among them, the drip irrigation+60% fertilization significantly increased available N, available P and available K in walnut soil by 15.8%, 30.4% and 9.69% compared with those of flood irrigation+60% fertilization, respectively. All three microflora of soil microbial in drip fertigation changed compared with those of flood fertigation; and the drip irrigation +60% fertilization significantly increased the number of soil bacteria and actinomycetes in the soil of walnut seedlings and reduced the number of soil fungi.Fertigation significantly improved the physical and chemical properties of walnut seedling soil, and drip irrigation +60% fertilization was with the optimal effect in improving soil microbial community structure and increasing soil nutrient contents.
