The effect evaluation of tomato cultivation in “one-meter vegetable garden” of the terrace under different substrates

In this experiment,six types of substrates were compounded with decomposed chicken and cow manure for tomato(Solanum lycopersicum) cultivation in "one-meter vegetable garden" of the terrace,in contrast to the commercial substrate.The physical and chemical properties of substrates,physiological characters,economic characters,nutritional quality and photosynthetic characteristics of tomato in all treatments among different growth stages of tomato were analysed.The results showed that the reasonable proportions of chicken and cow manure were better for tomato growth.Meanwhile,among six types of substrates,A treatment(chicken manure:cow manure:peat:vermiculite:river sand 3:3:1:1:2) attained the highest yield and best quality of tomato,followed by C treatment(chicken manure:cow manure:peat:river sand 2.5:2.5:2:3).In addition,the effects of A and C treatments were similar to the commercial substrate.Therefore,the A and C treatments would be used as the appropriate substrate of "one-meter vegetable garden" of the terrace.
