Effects of Seedlings Substrates on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth in Astragalus L.

Taking Astragalus L.as test materials,the effects of different substrates to seed germination and seedling growth of Astragalus L.were rexamined.The results showed that vermiculite and 1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir had a significant effect on germination rate which was 74% and 72% respectively; vermiculite,peat,1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir and 1:1 of vermiculite/peat had significant effect on root length,leaf area,fresh weight and plant height.To be specific,the greatest seedling root length was 7.88 cm in 1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir,maximum fresh weight was 0.186 g in vermiculite,and the highest plant height was 6.04 cm 1:1 of in vermiculite/peat,indicating the vermiculite and coconut coir were the most suitable substrates for seed germination and seedling growth in Astragalus L..
