Abstract:
Soil erosion is an agricultural and environmental problem globally and a primary driving factor causing land degradation. Conducting dynamic monitoring of soil and water loss is a prerequisite for rational utilization of water and soil resources as well as scientific prevention and control of soil and water loss. The monitoring station for soil and water conservation is the basic unit for dynamic monitoring work of soil and water loss. The continuous strengthening for the construction of soil and water conservation monitoring network can quantitatively understand the status, distribution, and change trends of regional soil erosion, which is of crucial importance in developing scientific decisions for prevention and control. This paper elaborates the development history of global soil and water monitoring briefly, reviews the current situation of dynamic monitoring of soil and water loss in China, sorts out the experience in the construction of China's soil and water conservation monitoring network, summarizes the role of monitoring stations in the dynamic monitoring of soil and water loss, and points out the existing problems in soil and water loss monitoring. This study could provide support for the integrated prevention and control of soil erosion and theoretical research.
